It's because a good honest pub is more than the food you eat or the pints you drink. It's about the welcome you get when you walk through the door. Or the cosy corner you nestle in to chat to strangers, or read the paper. Or the fact it's open rain or shine, 7 days a week, from 12 noon until 11pm - even if you're the only person inside. A good pub is more than just a watering hole. It's a place for sanctity, socialising, and scotch eggs. A place to take shelter from the rain and a place to chat to those you'd normally walk past. Long live the boozer. The Tav is much better open with a £7 chip butty than closed with a sign on the door. X
